Roots Over the Basket: An alternative method is to place the plant on bark chips inside the basket and then drape the roots over the basket edges.

Roots Inside the Basket: For smaller orchid plants, like some dendrobiums, you can put the roots inside the basket and add a potting medium like bark chips.
